It just amazes me that some people act like its wrong to show your natural hair, as if we were born with a relaxer. What are we being taught, when our females call their own hair "hard" or "bad" and believe that their only option is a relaxer or when our males believe that beauty has light skin and straight long hair. What is happening to us?

Hello Curlys, Kinkys, Big Fros, Lil Fros and All in Between:
A few years ago, long before I had heard of being Natural, transitioning or Big Chop, I walked into my restroom, picked up a pair of dull scissors and commenced to cutting my hair. I went from neck length to about inch length within a matter of minutes. I did not plan this at all and all who knows me knew I will cut my hair in a NY minute. I ad no reservations at that moment until I walked outside and showed my new…

hair look like a brassy orange, brown color......UGhhhhh .You really can't see it unless I'm in the sun.
I've heard that some ladies use henna.Don't know much about it.

I think African American women are afraid to embrace their natural hair because of the fact that they have embraced the purchased european type textures (weaves, relaxers) for so long until they think that they can't control their own natural hair. I hear remarks such as my hair is too "nappy", or you have "good' hair and I don't. It's just the fact that they've altered their natural hair to make it easier for them too manage; and they've gotten used to the altered texture. I feel that your natural hair is just as easy to manage if you use the products that works for you.

This is my second time on the Natty Journey but the first time I found the tought part was the wish that my hair was a diffent texture or length I compared myself to those I considered beautiful but never truly seeing the beauty in me. I can say that this time around that I appreciate my beauty and my uniquiness. I still have some difficulties when I comes to non-natural beauties and their glares or comments they can be harsh but I stand by the fact that I am beautiful chemical free and simply me. ;) I that this website and facebook group for the constent encouragement and feedback and pics of women that look like me...free.Continue

I decided to go natural because Ive always wanted to do it. But then because of stress of the loss of my mother, I had no other choice. My hair was falling out and I had a bald spot in the front of my head which was very embarrasing to me. So, rather than adding more chemicals to already broken off, over processed hair, I decided it was time for a complete change.Continue
